SKY Fiber increases the speed of its PHP 999 plan from 5Mbps to 10Mbps.

New subscribers may apply online to the SKY Fiber 10Mbps unlimited wired internet plan worth PHP 999 per month through this link. They may also contact a sales agent through its website.

Meanwhile, existing SKY Fiber subscribers may enjoy the speed upgrade on the 2nd half of July until August 2020 for free.

The broadband plan upgrade aims to provide affordable and reliable internet for productivity and distance learning.

SKY Fiber’s 10Mbps plan is available in the following areas: Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Batangas, Baguio, Bacolod, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Cebu, Davao, Zamboanga & Gensan.

Smart Communications Inc. (5G Services) – one of the largest telco in the Philippines announced the commercial roll out of 5G services in select areas in Metro Manila starting July 30, 2020.

The Metro Manila areas that will be initially covered are the following: Makati Central Business District (CBD), Araneta City, SM Megamall, Mall of Asia Bay Area and Bonifacio Global City (BGC) CBD.

High-demand areas such as North Avenue, Quezon City and Taft Avenue, Manila City as well as Ortigas CBD and Clark Green City, Pampanga will also be included in the coverage for the initial roll out of the 5G service.

“The launch of Smart’s 5G service enables the Philippines to level up and join the ranks of countries utilizing the next generation of mobile technology,”

The initial 5G services will only be available at first to Smart Signature, Infinity, and other Smart postpaid subscribers using a Smart-certified smartphone device along with 5G-ready SIM cards who are covered by the initial areas of coverage in Metro Manila.

On the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the President Rodrigo Duterte early this week, the president threatened major telcos namely Smart and Globe Telecom Inc. to improve their services up until December otherwise have their network shut down.
